About Me

After taking all the art classes my high school offered, I knew that I would study art. A favorite teacher urged me to look at art institutes across the country. Atlanta won out as the best location for me and I have lived here ever since.

I married a wonderful Atlanta native and have a son I adore.

I studied fashion illustration, graphic art and color theory in college, but it was not until after I was out of school did interior design become a passion.

After years of work in print production and product management for several companies, I came to the realization that interior design was what I wanted to do for a living.

I’ve worked with clients across Atlanta. My work comes from client referrals, and I have an ongoing relationship with my clients, many of whom I have worked with several times on several rooms.

Creating interiors is a passion for me…making people happier with their surroundings is fulfilling and addictive. Everyone should love to come home and feel comfortable there.

5 Things To Remember About Design

“I’m looking to design interiors reflecting a client’s needs and preferences while beautifying their home with a professional, current and functional design.”  ~ Kim Mills

 1

Design is all about the details. Exacting furniture placement and color coordination with even the smallest of pieces is key. Paying attention to details will make a room. The trick is doing it in such a way as to look as if you didn’t.

2

Not one piece of furniture, accessory or wall color is the most important to a total room design. All components are equally important to successfully completing a room. A good designer visualizes pieces and how they will fit together before the project begins.

3

Organization is key! Even if it doesn’t come naturally, get help from your designer or call a professional organizer. Your project will go smoother and you’ll be happier with the outcome.

4

Hire a designer you trust, feel comfortable with and appreciate their design aesthetic.

5

Form and function drive decisions about your project. The best rooms balance the two for a great look and feel.

My experience working with Kim Mills Design was beyond fantastic. Kim has an exceptional eye for detail and color. She was able to take my ideas and transform them into realities, from initial design to the final details. I couldn’t have had a better and more satisfying relationship. I recommend Kim Mills Design wholeheartedly!”

Jane D. - Attorney (Sandy Springs, GA)

Our builder-beige house is now a welcoming home, thanks to the warm colors and the decorative items Kim helped us pick out. Kim is friendly, easy to work with, and successfully negotiated between my husband’s and my differing tastes! She has a great eye for color and a creative sense of space. All along the whole process, Kim educated us on the ‘rules’ of decorating and how and when to break them. I would highly recommend her to anyone interested in making the most out of their space.”
